Israeli special forces killed at least 12 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and West Bank. Commandos raided the central Gaza town of Khan Younis as well as Gaza City on Wednesday, killing 11 Palestinians, most of them gunmen from Hamas or Islamic Jihad. Palestinians said a boy was among the dead. Two Israeli soldiers were lightly hurt in the clashes. Outside the West Bank city of Jenin, a Palestinian was killed during a shootout between Israeli paramilitary police and an Islamic Jihad fugitive. The dead man was said to have been the terrorist’s brother, but it was not immediately clear if he had also been armed. Palestinians in Gaza retaliated with a rocket salvo against Sderot. No one was hurt.
