Iran is executing citizens for adultery, “rape, insulting
religious sanctities and laws, and homosexuality.”

The Islamic Republic’s government confirmed Tuesday that it
executed an adulterer last week by stoning, and that 20 more men would be
executed in the next few days on morality violations, the New York Times
reported.

The stoning was carried out last week near the city of
Takestan, despite an order by the chief of the judiciary, Ayatollah Mahmoud
Shahroudi, not to permit such executions. Most executions in Iran are public
hangings, often at the scenes of the alleged crimes, according to the report.
