Norway cut off ties with Hamas.
Norway was among the few Western nations to engage with the radical Islamist group after it entered a coalition government with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas in March, a move that outraged Israel.
But Norwegian Foreign Minister Jonas Gar Store, meeting Monday with Israeli President Shimon Peres in Jerusalem, announced that his government had decided to shun Hamas in light of its violent takeover of the Gaza Strip in June.
Norway also endorsed Abbas and the new P.A. government he established after dissolving the Hamas-led Cabinet.
