El Al passengers were stuck in Kiev after their plane experienced engine failure.

Passengers of Flight 652 from Kiev to Israel were forced to spend Sunday night in the Ukrainian capital. The flight’s scheduled departure on Sunday was 11:53 p.m.

The Boeing crew detected an engine malfunction while taxiing before takeoff.

El Al admits it is unable to replace the plane immediately. The Israeli state air company announced Sunday night that it would try to airlift the passengers from Borispol Airport to Ben Gurion Airport with two smaller aircraft on Monday. Still, El Al’s representative warned that passengers might remain stuck in Kiev for “a few more days.”

The El Al press service blamed a “tense flight schedule” as the reason for the delay.
