Serbian police arrested about 30 neo-Nazis trying to stage an illegal rally.

The members of the pro-fascist National Front planned to hold a rally Sunday in the Serbian city of Novi Sad, but their request for a permit was blocked by city authorities following protests by Jewish and human rights organizations.

The arrests were made at the Novi Sad headquarters of the National Front, where members were throwing bottles and stones at a rally by those opposing extremists and fascist movements, according to Reuters.

The National Front had scheduled its rally for Oct. 7, the birthday of Nazi commander Heinrich Himmler, responsible for the murder of hundreds of thousands of Serbs, Jews and gypsies in the former Kingdom of Yugoslavia during World War II.
