Jerusalem church torched

A church was torched in Jerusalem.

Unknown vandals broke into the Narkis Street Baptist Church Tuesday and set fire to chairs and books, Israeli police said. There was no immediate word on suspects.

The evangelical church, which is run by the Southern Baptist Convention in the United States, was burned
down in 1982 by fervently Orthodox Jewish vigilantes. It counts former Jews and Muslims among its congregants.
