The Jewish Council for Public Affairs and B’nai B’rith International are cosponsoring two call-in days to Congress to uphold affordable housing.

The call-ins by Jews around the country on Oct. 29-30 culminates the organizations’ “Affordable Housing Month.” Callers will urge their representatives to reauthorize the McKinney Vento Homeless Assistance Act, passed 20 years ago, which funds homeless shelters, and to rebuild Gulf Coast areas ravaged by the 2005 hurricane season.

The effort is part of the “There Shall Be no Needy Among You” campaign by the JCPA, the public policy umbrella for the Jewish community.
