Clergy call for Annapolis prayers

A prominent alliance of Washington-area churches is calling on congregations to pray for next week’s peace conference.

Churches for Middle East Peace, comprised of Presbyterian, Orthodox, Quaker, Methodist, Catholic, Baptist, Unitarian and other major denominations, urged its membership in more than 1,500 congregations to engage in prayer and action on Sunday for the success of the Annapolis parley.

The group also circulated a prayer to be recited in church in anticipation of the conference, asking God to “lift up the international leaders who search for peace. They have talked before without success. They face a difficult road and many obstacles. Inspire them to move from words to actions that fulfill a greater vision of peace. Arouse in them a passion for righteousness.”
