Israel is holding a Palestinian terrorist accused of undergoing military training in Iran.

The Shin Bet announced Monday that it is holding a Palestinian who was detained by Israeli forces in the Gaza Strip last month, and who confessed to training in Iran.

The Palestinian belongs to a Gaza-based armed offshoot of Fatah. According to the Shin Bet, he left Gaza one year ago, traveling to Iran through Egypt and Syria, and underwent munitions training. On his return to Gaza, he took part in rocket attacks against Israel.

The Beersheba District Court indicted the Palestinian, who did not immediately enter a plea.

Israel believes hundreds of Gazans, mainly from the ruling Hamas faction, have received military training in Syria and Iran.
