Belarusian Protestants celebrated the 60th anniversary of Israel with prayer.
About 2,000 Belarusians prayed for the Jewish people and for peace in Israel.
“The Bible says that every Christian has to pray for Israel and the Jewish people,” Protestant priest Oleg Akulenko told the Belarusian news agency BelaPAN.
The priest said that the 60th anniversary of Israel is a time to confess for persecutions, oppressions and the lack of respect to Jewish people that took place in the past.
Akulenko said the formation of the state of Israel 2,000 years after the destruction of Jerusalem was the fulfillment of Biblical prophecies.
