A replica of the world’s largest ancient Jerusalem model was inaugurated in Rio de Janeiro.

Funded by the Jerusalem Cultural Center, an Evangelical Christian-run institution, the model unveiled Tuesday in Brazil is the second copy of the original located in the Holyland Hotel in Jerusalem.

Built from construction material that came from Israel, the 881-square-yard model portrays the topography and architechture of the Israeli capital in 66 A.D. at the time of the Second Temple, before Jerusalem was ransacked by the Romans.

Technology allows the visitors to take a virtual tour with several light effects.

“It is a great opportunity for the people of Rio to contemplate through the model the history of the Bible,” said Sen. Marcelo Crivella, who conceived of the idea of the model.

The cultural center that hosts the model is located inside the colossal world headquarters building of the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God, the fastest-growing religious organization in Brazil. The church has some 10 million followers in 170 nations worldwide.
