Five civilians in Israel were wounded by rockets fired from the Gaza Strip.
The Israeli Air Force struck back later Tuesday, injuring three Islamic Jihad terrorists.
An Air Force spokesman said Israeli forces had targeted a Palestinian preparing to fire rockets into the same southern Israel area where rockets had been launched earlier in the day.
At least one of the civilians injured was a Thai farm worker.
