Israeli forces killed a Palestinian gunman who approached the Gaza Strip border.
A tank crew standing guard outside northern Gaza spotted a Palestinian trying to lay a mine on the boundary fence early Sunday and opened fire.
The gunman, who belonged to Hamas, was killed. The Islamist faction said another of its members was wounded in the incident.
