The Sunday New York Times’ Week in Review has two revealing Israel-related pieces: One, a spot-on piece by Ethan Bronner about the gloomy mood in the Jewish state, thanks to threats from within and without. The other, a column by Nicholas Kristof, is revealing for who Kristof thinks are the bad Jews, and who the good Jews – er, I mean, Israelis. “One oppresses Palestinians. The other helps them.” I guess it’s easy to sort things out when they’re so black-and-white.
Monday’s Times carries a full-page ad by the new left-wing, pro-Israel group J Street: “When Israel goes to war, supporters rally,” the ad says. “When Israel negotiates, why the deafening silence?”
