Israel reopened its border with the Gaza Strip after Hamas said it would stem cross-border Palestinian attacks.
Border crossings used to import fuel and other goods into Gaza, and for travelers to pass to and from Israel, opened Sunday morning after a four-day closure imposed in response to Palestinian rocket and mortar fire.
Those attacks, violating a June 19 truce that had been brokered by Egypt, were claimed by Islamic Jihad and Al-Aksa Brigades. Hamas, which runs Gaza, on Friday threatened a crackdown on such violators.
Israel hopes the cease-fire will lead to a deal in which Gilad Shalit, a soldier held captive by Hamas in Gaza, is released.
