Two Jewish residents of the West Bank were arrested for beating a Palestinian whom they accused of arson.

Israeli police said Monday they had arrested two settlers from Asa-El, a hilltop community south of Hebron, for beating a bound Palestinian.

Video footage of the incident on Saturday, which was filmed by an Israeli-Palestinian coexistence group, showed one settler kicking the man as he sat prone and tied to a pole. Israeli soldiers are then seen intervening to restrain the settlers.

According to police, the settlers grabbed the Palestinian after a nearby field went up in flames, suspecting him of arson. The Palestinian denied wrongdoing, saying he was a farmer who was working a nearby field and had tried to put out the fire.

Last month, two Jewish residents of the West Bank town of Susya, one a minor, were arrested in connection with an attack on Palestinian farmers that was also captured on videotape.
