A second Palestinian youth has died after being shot in the head during anti-security barrier clashes.

Israel’s border police said they would investigate the death of a Palestinian teenager who was shot Wednesday in the Palestinian village of Ni’ilin, during demonstrations following the funeral of a Palestinian youth. The youth was shot in the head and killed Tuesday evening as Israeli police and army units dispersed an anti-security barrier demonstration.

The preliminary report of a border police inquiry found that the youth, who is likely related to the dead teen, was killed by Israeli forces.

Wednesday’s violence occurred when the army attempted to remove rubble and stone barricades blocking the road into the village. About 17 Palestinians were injured in the violence, according to the International Solidarity Movement’s Web site, as well as three border police guards.

Palestinians and border police scuffled Wednesday during the boy’s funeral, attended by thousands, at which Hamas flags were prominently displayed, though the town is generally allied with Fatah, the Jerusalem Post reported.

The army said Wednesday it would send troops with better riot control training to the area.
