News Brief

Israeli security forces in the West Bank acknowledged not doing enough to stop violent Jewish settlers. Army, police and Shin Bet security officers met last week and were critical of their own failure to contain settler attacks on Palestinians, Ha’aretz reported Friday. The representative of the Shin Bet, Israel’s internal security apparatus, said settler attacks against Palestinians were planned, the newspaper said. Officials at the meeting said their troops often were reluctant to confront the settlers.
