Israeli security forces arrested members of an eastern Jerusalem terror cell.

The cell allegedly was behind the deaths of two Israeli policemen in separate terror attacks, according to an indictment filed 10 days ago but whose details have just been made public after the lifting of a media gag order.

According to the Shin Bet security service, the cell also was planning to assassinate a Jerusalem police officer, initiate a shooting attack on a French Hill bus stop, attack a Hebron-area checkpoint and kidnap security officials.

Alleged cell leader Mohammed Khalil Adnan Abu-Sneina owned a shop near Herod’s Gate in the Old City of Jerusalem.

Police in 2008 have arrested some 250 Arab residents of eastern Jerusalem for terror activity, according to Jerusalem Police Chief Aharon Franco, marking a dramatic increase over previous years.
