Palestinians sue Israel over outpost

Five Palestinians are suing Israel for not working to return their land, which is occupied by an illegal outpost.

The approximately $435,000 lawsuit blaming Israel for its inaction in emptying the Migron outpost was filed Sunday in Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court.

Forty-three families live in mobile homes and two permanent structures in Migron, which was established in 1999 near the settlement of Ofra. The Israeli government has put about $1 million into infrastructure in Migron.

Over the summer the government reached a deal with the Council of Jewish Communities of Judea, Samaria and the Gaza Strip to move the outpost to an approved area. The residents of Migron, however, say they will not move. The residents also say they purchased part of the land on which they live, though the courts dispute this claim.
