Israel allowed humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip and resumed pumping in diesel fuel.
The decision to allow 44 trucks carrying supplies including food and medicine to enter Gaza through the Kerem Shalom crossing was made Monday after defense officials agreed that Israel would ease the blockade if there were no new rocket attacks, the Israeli daily Ha’aretz reported.
Israel also began pumping industrial diesel fuel into Gaza on Monday. The Palestinians claim the three-week break in supplies of diesel fuel to the Gaza power plant caused widespread blackouts.
Ha’aretz reported that according to the Palestinian Ma’an news agency, Hamas announced Sunday that terrorist groups in Gaza agreed to stop rocket attacks on Israel if Israel opened Gaza border crossings and allowed in supplies.
