WASHINGTON (JTA) — Condoleezza Rice will meet with other members of the "Quartet" to discuss Israeli-Palestinian peace prospects.

The U.S. secretary of state will meet with her counterparts from Russia, the United Nations and the European Union — the grouping that guides Israeli-Palestinian talks — on Monday and Tuesday to "discuss efforts to achieve positive and lasting peace consistent with the Annapolis process," a State Department statement said, referring to talks launched under U.S. auspices a year ago in Annapolis, Md.

The Bush administration wants to advance the talks as far as possible before handing over to President-elect Barack Obama on Jan. 20.
