JERUSALEM (JTA) — A United Nations relief agency has suspended food distribution in the Gaza Strip.

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency announced Thursday that it had run out of flour in its warehouses in Gaza due to the closure of the Hamas-controlled area’s borders with Israel.

The UNRWA provides regular and emergency food distribution to 750,000 Palestinians living in Gaza.

Supplies of wheat for Gaza flour mills were scheduled to enter the strip earlier in December, but the crossings were closed due to Kassam rocket fire by Palestinians on southern Israel.
