(JTA) — Israel’s air force hit a number of targets in the Gaza Strip.

Israel struck a rocket-making factory, a weapons storehouse and a police station, according to reports.

The attacks, which began Thursday, were Israel’s first from the air since Hamas and Israel signed a six-month truce deal six months ago. The truce officially expired on Friday.

Palestinians in Gaza fired three rockets into Israel on Friday, following heavy barrages into Israel earlier this week.

Israeli government officials said a major military operation in Gaza was "inevitable" in the light of the collapse of the cease-fire, Ha’aretz reported.

Two members of Hamas were wounded in the attack on the police station.
