KIEV, Ukraine — Leaflets threatening to murder Jews were scattered near a synagogue in the eastern Ukrainian city of Donetzk.
Eight leaflets scattered Jan. 24 warned Jews that they would “be held responsible” for killing Palestinian children in the Gaza Strip during Israel’s recent military operation against Hamas.
Law enforcement agencies are investigating the case; no arrests have been reported.
“We are not sure who made it," Yuda Kelerman, a leader of the Donetzk Jewish community, told JTA. "Probably this is only the occasion for some anti-Semites. Meanwhile, we believe that local law enforcement agencies will investigate the case properly. The agencies usually help us.”
