NEW YORK (JTA) — Families of Israeli terrorism victims are launching a campaign to halt the release of Palestinian prisoners in exchange for a captured Israeli soldier.
Israel has been negotiating a prisoner exchange in the hopes of freeing Gilad Shalit, the Israeli soldier seized in a cross-border raid by Hamas militants in 2006.
The families, which are set to launch their campaign Sunday, fear that Palestinian prisoners released by Israel will end up staging more terrorist attacks, according to Ha’aretz.
