WASHINGTON (JTA) — The executive director of the National Jewish Democratic Council is recovering from a heart attack.
Ira Forman, executive director of the NJDC, is scheduled for bypass surgery on Monday. He suffered the heart attack on Sunday evening near the end of the annual Purim Masquerade Ball & Auction at the Jewish Primary Day School of the Nation’s Capital. Forman and his wife, Caryn Pass, were being honored at the event for their volunteer work with the school.
Forman, 57, has served as NJDC executive director since 1996.
