WASHINGTON (JTA) — The U.S. military chief of staff used Holocaust Remembrance Day to deliver a message about responsibility to his troops.
"The story of the Holocaust, however ghastly, offers us an opportunity to reflect on the responsibilities in life," Adm. Mike Mullen, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said in a message broadcast worldwide Tuesday on the Pentagon Channel, the Boston Globe reported. "It’s a chance to remember that what we do — or choose not to do — really matters."
Tuesday marked Holocaust Remembrance Day in Israel and around the world. The Obama administration will commemorate the Holocaust on Thursday, when President Obama delivers a message in the Capitol Rotunda.
