JERUSALEM (JTA) — Two Lebanese men suspected of spying for Israel crossed into Israel to request asylum.
The men crossed the heavily guarded border Monday, each accompanied by two of their children, according to reports.
Fifteen people accused of belonging to spy cells for Israel have been arrested in Lebanon in the last two months.
Spying for Israel is punishable by death in Lebanon.
Lebanon reportedly will ask UNIFIL, the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon, to bring back the accused spies.
