JERUSALEM (JTA) — Three Palestinians trapped in a collapsed smuggling tunnel for five days were rescued.
The tunnel collapsed Tuesday after it was bombed by Israel’s Air Force. Egyptian rescuers dug the trapped men out of the tunnel under the Egypt-Gaza border on Saturday. The men were then taken into Egyptian security service custody.
Two Palestinians were killed and four missing in another tunnel collapse on Saturday, the Palestinian Ma’an news agency reported.
At least 100 Palestinians have died in tunnel collapses since Israel began its blockade of Gaza in 2007, according to Ma’an.
