WASHINGTON (JTA) — Israel Aerospace Industries reportedly has taken itself out of contention to sell fighter jets to India following pressure from the Pentagon.

IAI recently backed out of a joint partnership with a Swedish aerospace company to contend for a multibillion-dollar contract to sell fighter jets to the Indian Air Force, the Jerusalem Post reported Monday.

Two leading American contractors, Boeing and Lockheed Martin, also are under consideration for the nearly $12 billion Indian deal, according to the newspaper. U.S. officials expressed concern that American technologies being used by Israel would be offered to India.
