JERUSALEM (JTA) – Softball was restored to the Maccabiah Games schedule after the sports complex obtained the required business license.

Games had been canceled Tuesday at the Baptist Village’s Yarkon Sports Complex in Petach Tikvah after police arrived in the second inning of the men’s Israel-Mexico game demanding to see the venue’s license.

The softball schedule resumed Thursday morning after a frantic scramble to obtain the necessary license. A revised, full schedule will be played.

Previous Maccabiah softball games and Israel Baseball League games in 2007 at the same venue did not have a business license, according to the Jerusalem Post.
