JERUSALEM (JTA) – The Palestinian Authority’s prime minister called on the United States to come up with an Israeli-Palestinian peace plan and impose a timetable.
"I call anew on the United States to come up with a plan and a timetable for its application that will contribute to put an end to Jewish settlements and Israeli offensives, and lead to serious negotiations," Salaam Fayyad said Saturday, according to reports.
Fayyad also called on the international community to hold Israel accountable for previous commitments.
The Palestinians have said they will not restart negotiations with Israel until it freezes all settlement construction.
Meanwhile, Fayyad announced Sunday that he will take over as head of the Ministry for Jerusalem Affairs following the resignation of the current minister, Ynet reported. Fayyad said he would work to strengthen the Palestinian presence in eastern Jerusalem.
