BETHLEHEM, West Bank (JTA) — A leading contender for the leadership of the Palestinian Fatah movement said armed struggle against Israel is still an option.
Jibril Rajoub, the former head of the Palestinian Authority’s internal security force, said Tuesday that despite Fatah’s involvement in the peace process, military action against Israel was still on the table.
"Fatah will never give up on the armed struggle until we get our state,” Rajoub told reporters at the Fatah movement’s congress in Bethlehem. “Until then, this is just a time-out for tactical reasons."
