The National Conference of Jewish Women is welcoming the FDA’s approval a generic version of Plan B emergency contraception.
"This decision will go a long way to making emergency contraception accessible to more women because Next Choice is more affordable and will be available over-the-counter for women 17 and older and by prescription for women 16 and younger," said NCJW executive director Nancy Ratzan. “Despite recent efforts to increase access to emergency contraception, cost is still a barrier for many women. NCJW believes that all women, regardless of age, income, religion, race or geographic location should have access to the full range of contraceptive options."

The National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW) today welcomed the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) approval of Next Choice, a generic version of Plan B emergency contraception (EC) pills. NCJW President Nancy Ratzan released the following statement:
“NCJW welcomes the FDA’s approval of Next Choice, a generic version of Plan B emergency contraception. This decision will go a long way to making emergency contraception accessible to more women because Next Choice is more affordable and will be available over-the-counter for women 17 and older and by prescription for women 16 and younger.
“Despite recent efforts to increase access to emergency contraception, cost is still a barrier for many women. NCJW believes that all women, regardless of age, income, religion, race or geographic location should have access to the full range of contraceptive options. The introduction of a generic for Plan B is an important step toward achieving that important goal.”
