WASHINGTON (JTA) — George Mitchell had a "good meeting" in New York with two Israeli officials, according to a State Department spokesman.
The U.S. special envoy to the Middle East met Wednesday with Yitzhak Molcho, an aide to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and Michael Herzog, the Defense Ministry chief of staff. Discussions will continue next week.
"Senator Mitchell and the Israeli delegation reaffirmed their commitment to comprehensive peace, and concrete steps by all parties toward that goal," said State Department spokesman Ian Kelly, according to media reports. "We look forward to continuing the discussion when Senator Mitchell returns to the region late next week."
