JERUSALEM (JTA) — A Palestinian Authority minister says he will not meet again with Israeli officials in the near future.
Bassem Khoury, the minister for national economy, said Tuesday that he would not meet again with Israeli Minister for Regional Development Silvan Shalom until Palestinian Authority demands are met.
The leaders, with the first high-level meeting between Israel and the Palestinians in several months, garnered much international attention. The meeting last week focused on economic issues. Three more meetings had been scheduled between now and the end of the year.
"Our meeting had nothing to do with [peace] negotiations, which are still frozen and will remain frozen until Israel freezes its settlements," Khoury said.
