JERUSALEM (JTA) — An Israeli military court convicted an army officer of aggravated assault for hitting a Palestinian during a West Bank arrest operation.

Lt. Adam Malul, a reservist in the Kfir infantry brigade, hit the Palestinian man while making arrests in September 2008 in the West Bank village of Kadum, located near Nablus.

He was also convicted during Sunday’s hearing of conduct unbecoming an officer. He will be sentenced at a later date.

The judge said Malul had "crossed red lines."
