JERUSALEM (JTA) — Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak received a death threat reportedly from far-right extremists.

"Mr. Ehud Barak, if you think you’re going to destroy the settlement of Judea and Samaria, you are mistaken. I’ll kill you before you do," the letter delivered to Barak’s office Tuesday morning read, according to Israeli media.

"I will harm you or your children, be careful," the letter said. "If not now, then when you are no longer a minister and have no security around you."

Security was increased for Barak after a similar letter was received a week ago, according to reports.

Barak’s ministry has been working to enforce a 10-month freeze on new construction in West Bank settlements that was announced at the end of November.

Similar threats have been made against Police Commissioner David Cohen.
