(JTA) — A Chicago man took his Jewish daughter to church in violation of a court order.
Joseph Reyes, 35, attended services Sunday at Holy Name Cathedral with his young daughter, despite a temporary restraining order issued last month barring him from exposing their daughter to any religion except Judaism, CBS 2 in Chicago reported.
The order came after Reyes had his daughter baptized without his wife’s permission. The couple is in the middle of a contentious divorce.
Reyes’ wife has said that her estranged husband had promised to raise their daughter as a Jew, but he disputes the claim.
