(JTA) — A Jewish woman filed criminal charges against her estranged husband for violating a court order and taking their daughter to church.

Joseph Reyes faces contempt charges in a hearing on Feb. 16. He took his daughter Ela, 3, to church on Jan. 17, and was filmed by a TV news crew.

Courts have acceded to his wife Rebecca’s demand for a restraining order barring Reyes from exposing Ela to any faith but Judaism.

Reyes converted to Judaism when he married Rebecca, but after the couple filed for divorce he baptized Ela without his wife’s knowledge.
