WASHINGTON (JTA) — The Republican Jewish Coalition launched campaigns targeting Jewish communities in eight states.

The campaign announced Oct. 8 costs more than $1 million and will feature in competitive races in Florida, Nevada, Ohio, California, Pennsylvania, Missouri, Illinois and Washington.

It reaches Jewish voters through ads on television, as well as in Jewish newspapers and through direct mail.

The first rollout of ads targeted U.S. Senate races in six of the states and featured a mix of themes. Some ads scored Democrats for backing President Obama’s Israel policies, while others focused instead on the ailing economy.

"From the state of our economy, to the loss of jobs, to the exploding debt and deficit, to the prospect of a nuclear Iran, to U.S.-Israel relations and the peace process, the stakes have never been higher," RJC director Matthew Brooks said in a statement. "This issue advocacy campaign will educate people in a timely and factual way about the vitally important questions facing us all."
