JERUSALEM (JTA) — A car carrying Israeli Knesset members was stoned in an eastern Jerusalem neighborhood.
The lawmakers were visiting the Jewish Beit Yonatan building in the heart of the Arab neighborhood of Silwan when their car drove into a pack of Palestinian teens throwing rocks at local Jewish residents and was hit, according to reports. No one was injured.
Heavy security had accompanied the lawmakers.
Meanwhile, Israel’s Public Security Minister Yitzhak Aharonovitch on Tuesday said that Palestinian children arrested in Silwan for throwing rocks will not receive immunity. Nearly 50 children have been arrested in recent weeks.
"Their parents need to be arrested and the throwing of stones needs to be stopped," he told Army Radio.
Two Palestinian children were hit by a car driven by Jewish driver last week in Silwan as they stood in the street throwing rocks at cars with Israeli license plates.
