By refusing to engage with Zionist students and seek common ground, she has only widened the distance between the two groups. Zionist students have the awful choice of ignoring the clubs’ activities and hateful rhetoric, trying to dialogue and getting ignored, or engaging in guerilla activism of their own and making the campus more hostile. None seems appealing to me.
As an Emerson Fellow for StandWithUs, I look forward to secure borders and better lives for all people in the region. As a student, I look to my peers to come together and build a better world, free of war.
But that requires normalization and common ground, something never achieved as long as one side continues to ignore the other.
