To the Editor:
Sue Fishkoff wrote a wonderful article on deaf Jews and how the Jewish community is opening up.
At The Temple in Atlanta, Ga., we offer captioning at High Holy Days services and on some Shabbat services throughout the year. We were told by one of our members who lost her hearing later in life that she was unable to learn sign, so captioning was a better option for her and her friends in similar situations.
We have utilized our Prayerbook and Worship Enrichment Fund to cover the expense. For the past few years we have received positive feedback in offering this service.
