(JTA) — Stuart Davis of Cherry Hill, N.J., won the $25,000 grand prize in the annual Man-O-Manischewitz Cook-Off.
Davis took the kosher cooking contest March 31 with a chicken and egg Donburi on a mound of rice. He was one of five finalists, among thousands of entrants from across the United States, showing off their stuff in Manhattan for a panel of judges that included celebrity chef Jacques Pepin.
Manischewitz, the nation’s largest maker of processed kosher food products, sponsors the contest.
Contestants had to submit recipes featuring at least two Manischewitz products and no more than nine ingredients in total. This year, one of the ingredients had to be Manischewitz Ready to Serve Broth.
