JERUSALEM (JTA) — Performers who cancel their concerts in Israel due to politics are "real wimps," the rock band Deep Purple’s drummer said.
Ian Paice made the statement Wednesday at a news conference ahead of two scheduled concerts in Israel this weekend, Haaretz reported.
The group will be performing for the third time in Israel when it takes the stage in Caesarea on May 14 and 15. Deep Purple performed four concerts in its last visit to Israel, in 2008.
Vocalist Ian Gillen told reporters that musicians should be impartial in political disputes, Haaretz reported.
Band members said they are looking forward to playing in Israel.
