JERUSALEM (JTA) — Israel will raze three permanent buildings in an illegal outpost that is situated on private Palestinian land.
The Ministry of Defense has ordered that the three homes in the Migron outpost in the northern West Bank be demolished within 45 days, Haaretz reported. The state also informed the Supreme Court of the order in response to a lawsuit filed in 2006 by Peace Now on behalf of the Palestinian landowners.
The order came after the state reached a compromise with the settlers’ Yesha Council, which agreed that a neighborhood for the Migron residents would be built in the nearby Geva Binyaim settlement. The neighborhood is still in the planning stages and Migron residents reportedly have rejected the compromise.
