We here at 6 Degrees No Bacon pride ourselves on “discovering” the Jewishness of unexpected famous folks such as Alyson Hannigan and James Franco.
But what about the celebrities you were so sure were Members of the Tribe but actually aren’t?
Well, after Jewish donors gave money to Michelle Bachmann, mistakenly believing she was Jewish, The Daily Beast compiled a slideshow of celebrities who everyone and their bubbes would swear were Chosen.
A few names of the list: Joy Behar, Bruce Springsteen and Jason Biggs (of American Pie fame.)
Biggs even manged to fool the Big Jew himself — Woody Allen. (Allen directed the actor in Anything Else.)
Rosh Hashanah was approaching,” Biggs explained to The Times of London, “[and Allen] asked if I was doing anything for the holiday. I had to think about whether or not I should tell him. I was like, how far into filming are we? If he learns I’m not Jewish, can he fire me and reshoot this stuff, or is that too expensive? … And, of course, I wanted to be honest with him. I was like ‘Woody, I’m actually not Jewish.’ He couldn’t believe it, but he took it much better than I expected.
Well, at least we’ve still got Scarlett Johansson.
