After an unflattering photo was splashed across the interwebs of HIMYM actress (and Buffy alum) Alyson Hannigan looking a little less than firm across the midsection, the “bump watchers” (who are just like bird watchers in that they also brandish binoculars, telephoto lenses and the means to invade one’s privacy) started rumors suggesting that the Hannigan is pregnant.
This forced the actress to send out the following tweet:
NO, I’m not pregnant! II just ate too much carnival food, that time of the month, hurt my back & couldn’t suck my gut in, & need 2 do cardio!
She quickly added, “And I’m NEVER gonna wear that shirt again!!!”
Personally, I find it highly insulting that female actresses are forced to constantly respond to allegations of pregnancy when they’ve eaten a large meal or wore something unflattering. This obsession has created a whole new subset of paparazzi photos — the bump shot — has been created as a result of this obsession. I wonder if a paparazzo can specialize in this particular field.
But seriously folks — physical changes happen to all of us throughout our lives. You don’t need to get pregnant to sport a gut. Just ask Alec Baldwin.
